The Beaver Scouts, although small in number, thoroughly enjoyed the Father’s Day Barbecue, painstakingly prepared by the older Scouts.
The Scouts all deserve a big thank you, particularly James, for co-ordinating the event and getting the production line of assembling baps, burgers and sauces, with delivery to the end recipient working like a well-oiled machine. Thanks also to those in the kitchen making drinks and to all those involved in clearing up after this event.
As Beaver Scout Leader, I was tasked with organising an orderly line for the delicious burgers but once the smell of burger hit the air this was more of a stampede. Everyone had their fill, with my Beaver Scouts mirroring the words of Oliver Twist when he said “Please sir, can I have more?” as they returned for seconds. Some would have had thirds had they believed they could get away with it.
Dads who stayed also enjoyed the late afternoon/early evening and the addition of giant Jenga in the garden area was also a hit.
All in all, a wonderful event visible to the larger Cassiobury community and thankfully the rain held off until right near the end. On behalf of the Beaver Scouts, thanks again to all involved.
