We were stranded on a banana island in 2021, working out in the bodybuilder’s gym in 2022 and lost in space trying to get home in 2023. This year we went on an archaeological dig as the Desert Detectives.
Alongside Dr Montana Jones, Clara Croft and the Professor, we made some extraordinary finds. Our mission: to find the mighty GOD SWORD!
We dug up Jesus’ old carpentry toolkit and discovered Jesus as a builder. Another day, we dug up Matthew’s Tax Collecting Book and discovered Jesus as a friend. Disappointment hit when we dug up an empty crisp packet but we still discovered Jesus’ teaching that we should not worry as God is looking after us. We dug up nails, wood and linen cloth and discovered Jesus died on the cross for us because he is our rescuer. In a sudden twist of events, we found out we had misread the Professor’s squishy handwriting. All along we had been finding what we were looking for – GOD’S WORD!
In our takeover of the morning service on Sunday 11th August we discovered not only was God’s Word found in the Bible but also a person – Jesus is the Word!
A big thanks to all who served on the Holiday Club team, who gave their time and energy to share the love of God with the children. Thanks for all the fun, the games, the wisdom, the food, and for joining in the action songs with gusto!
