Bible Text: Ephesians 6:13-20; Matthew 26:36-41 |

Outline: This message completes the sermon series on the topic of “Prayer”. Its focus is on the battle Christians have to get down to pray and how to win it! The key text comes in the famous passage on the “Armour of God” in Ephesians 6, especially v18; And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

In this sermon we look in some detail at two great resources we have been given by God to aid us in our life of prayer;

* Prayer and the Word of God (the “sword of the Spirit” in v17)

* Prayer and the Holy Spirit himself

Finally, we consider the comprehensiveness of Paul’s prayer command in v18, the three “alls”. We are to pray…

For all the saints (that is all believers!)

On all occasions (through the trials as wells as the joys of this life)

With all kinds of prayer (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication as well as expressing different emotions in prayer such as tears, groaning, arguing, prayer with fasting and even arguing with God!
