I was brought up in the traditional Anglican Church and as a child I found church slightly dull, but God was there, somewhere, in the background. In our 20's Anne and I started to attend an evangelical church and were asked to become involved in youth work, and then my faith became alive and living, and grew. It is as we use our God given spiritual gifts that we grow in faith, and also we see the church grow. We are too often 'good in theory' when it comes to spiritual gifts - ie. talking about them, studying them, talking some more - and less good at delivering. In the end that 3D approach to spiritual gifts - Discover, Develop, Deliver - only really bears fruit as we give it a go. Paul says 'set your mind in things above, not on things below'. Hebrews reminds us that all people of faith were flawed, but they did trust God, even when they were not sure how, where, or why. We all have God given gifts which God wants us to use in church and in our every day lives. Let's grasp the opportunities He gives as and see how we grow and the church grows as we use those gifts for His glory, and for the common good.
