In Paul’s final words advice to the church in Thessalonica He wrote ‘Don’t put out the Spirit’s fire’. Clearly Paul saw that there is a real danger that the fire within us can be extinguished if we don’t tend to it properly. In the Old and New Testaments fire is seen as a prominent symbol for the presence of God. To keep a fire burning it needs fuel and oxygen, but when it runs out of either the fire will go out. If you don’t tend a fire, it will simply burn itself out.
Are you on fire for Jesus?
Sometimes the stuff of life can get in the way of our most important relationship. When this happens we can become detached from God and the fire within us own can go out. I experienced something like this recently, but this Summer God reignited the fire within me and He can do the same for you too.
