ReThink Remembrance - John 15:9-17
Today at war memorials round the world people gather to remember those who have served this country in war, and especially those who gave their lives for our freedom, and those who were scarred physically and mentally by what they saw. "Greater love has no-one than this, that they lay down their life for their friends". There are thousands upon thousands of names, and each one was a father, a mother, a brother, a sister, a son, a daughter, and more - each had family who were also impacted by war. War continues today and our servicemen and women today continue to fight for freedom, and to lay down their lives, and there have been campaigns and deaths almost every year since the end of World War 2. We remember them too. These words of Jesus "Greater love has no-one than this, that they lay down their life for their friends" are appropriate for today as we remember those who have served and continue to serve this nation, for our freedom, but also as we remember that Christ gave his life for our ultimate freedom, freedom from death and sin. We will remember them!
