Mission in Action - Matthew 25:31-40
Despite what we may hear from some world leaders as Christians we are not asked to put ourselves first. Christ asked two things of us as Christians: put God first, and love our neighbours. The well known parable of the sheep and goats shows Jesus very clear speaking on the need to look out for the marginalised, the oppressed, the broken, and the hurting in our society. 'Whatever we do for the least of these children of God we do for Christ' (cfi Matt 25:40).
During the morning we heard from 4 organisations seeking to put this commandment of Christ into action:
1. Friends International - supporting international students in the UK and when they return home.
2. Kisumu Children's Trust - dedicated to improving the lives of some of Kenya's poorest children.
3. Watford Schools Trust - working in over 50 primary schools in Watford to help pupils and teachers understand the Christian faith.
4. Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership - working alongside asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrants in the local area.
