Bible Text: Matthew 28:16-20; 2 Corinthians 5:11-21 |

Outline:  This is the first sermon in a six-part series taken from the course manual “Natural Evangelism” by J. John. The title is ‘The Why of Evangelism’ and lays the foundation for understanding exactly what motivates us to share our faith with family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. Three topics were considered;

  1. What do we mean by “Evangelism”? Here we look at a definition of evangelism that highlights the primary importance of verbal proclamation of the gospel or good news of Jesus Christ in his historic saving acts (cross, resurrection) – but backed up by our Christian presence in good deeds and acts of mercy towards the total evangelistic enterprise.
  2. Why do we find Evangelism so hard? Here we look honestly at some of the reasons we find it difficult to share our faith.
  3. Why do we share the Good News of Jesus? Three motivation reasons are given from the Bible readings; The Command of Christ – The Love of Christ – The Commission of Christ (Ambassadors for Christ!).
