As a child I lived in rural Suffolk and remember walking to harvest services at church laden down with produce, the church heaving with all types of fruit and vegetables, and then us leaving church under the weight of produce to take to the elderly in the local community. Perhaps we've lost that connection with produce and that understanding that all we have comes from God, we plant seed and he transforms it and makes it grow. All the resources of the world are given to us by God as our Genesis reading reminds us. We are laden with gifts that God gives us and are asked to sow generously for Him, as our 2 Cor 9 reading says. Our sowing is in terms of our money, our time, our gifts, and our prayers, and also the news that Christ loves the world. We are made in the image of an extravagantly generous God, are we generous too with all He gives us?
