God’s Big Picture: The Bible is 1 Book

God's Big Picture

18th May, 2014 ()

Bible Text: Luke 24:13-27 |

Neil Brookes opens our new series on God's Big Picture taking us through the Bible's grand narrative.

The whole of the Bible is a joined up text, one book, where God has put his stamp on every chapter.

The Old Testament is the promise and the New Testament is the fulfilment.

Each part of the Bible is linked to other parts of the Bible to make the whole narrative join up and ultimately point to Jesus Christ as Saviour.

The Bible in a Minute:

Morgan Freeman on What is the Bible?

What gives you heartburn? Or rather what makes your heart burn with passion? What sets you alight?

Like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus does the Bible, the story of Jesus, fill you with passion?

Do you want the Bible to burn in your heart brighter? Perhaps we should treat it like our mobile phones, as though we couldn't live without it, always carrying it around with us wherever we go and ensuring that its battery never runs down.

The readings used in this service were:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17
  • Luke 24:13-27
