Bible Text: 1 John 1:8-2:2; John 14:16-20,25-27 |

Despite being with Jesus for over 3 years the disciples did not really know Jesus and had not really met him. "Don't you know me after I've been among you such a long time" - John 14:9. To help them Jesus promised to send them another helper, counsellor, comforter - the Holy Spirit. Some versions say 'advocate' - someone who stands alongside us, helps, but also directs us, which can be challenging and hard at times. This is "another advocate". The first advocate is Christ himself. Christ speaks to God on our behalf, and the second advocate speaks to us, 'to teach us and remind us of everything Christ has said to us' John 14:26. The two advocates - Christ speaking to God for us, and the Spirit speaking to us about God.
