Signs are all around us of Christmas; lights, inflatable Father Christmas', trees, and more. Sometimes within all the bright lights and busy-ness of Christmas we can miss the real meaning. In Luke the angels say to the shepherds "This will be a SIGN to you .....". The sign was a baby in the manager. Not a loud sign, or a big sign or a dramatic sign, but one that had a dramatic effect on the shepherds because "when they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child ....". Does the sign of the baby have the same effect on us? We can use the 'signs' around us to bring us back to the baby; words of carols, the evergreen tree, the presents reminding us of the gift of Christ, the nativity scene where all look at Christ ...etc. Let's use the signs of the season to help us "detangle the real meaning of Christmas" once again.
