Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM): All For One and One For All

Bible Text: John 20:19-31; Ephesians 2:1-10; Ephesians 4:1-16 |

The famous cry of the d'Artagnan from the Three Musketeers is well known: "All For One And One For All" as he rallied his group of friends together in their quests for good. The idea that 'each individual should act of the benefit of the group, and the group should act for the benefit of each individual' is a good description of 'church'. Indeed in church we have the added idea that the 'one' we are all for is Christ. At our APCM we look back and say thank you to everyone who is part of this church and what they do for the 'one' - for Christ - and for this community. Our Ephesians 4 reading is about 'team', about the body, and says that:
Team work involves many people who are very different
Teams work for the good of everybody
Teams accomplish more together than individuals would apart
In Eph 4 Paul calls us to:
v1 - live a life worthy of our calling
v3 - make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
v12 - use our gifts for the building of the body of Christ
v15 - grow into Him who is the head
To do this we need to ensure, as a church, we have the right 'soil', right atmosphere and environment, that enables each of us, and those who are not yet part of the church, and whose lives maybe very messy, to discover the gift of grace that each one of us has received. Let's continue to create that 'soil' here at St Luke's.
